MUSIC HALL

“The Good Old Days,” a 8.8. C. programme recalling the stars and acts of the music hall, has been purchased by the N.Z.B.C. It is one of British television’s longest-running shows, and it is now seen in seven European countries. Among the artists in the series are:

She appears in a scena of Viennese songs. Doreen Hermitage is a dynamic singer who is also a dancer and comedienne. The Perrards—an Australian duo who present acrobatic comedy in slow motion. Chaz Chase is an American comedian who many will remember for his appearances in films. His act is in the true tradition of music hall—a funny man, a funny costume, a funny routine. The Players Theatre Company presents a collection of famous Cockney songs of the old music hall.

Puppets Series

Children of pre-school age and their mothers will delight in a new 8.8. C. puppet series bought by the N.Z.B.C. This new series, “The Woodentops" are part of the 8.8.C.’s “Watch with i Mother” series. It features a family of Dutch dolls—father, [mother, twin brother and sister, and baby living on a small farm. There is also a farm hand, a daily help and [a dog. Various other farm animals are introduced from time to time. The stories are based on ordinary day-to-day events arising naturally from the characters and their set--ting. There are 26 programmes, each of 15 minutes, in the series. Wimbledon Tennis Tennis players and enthusiasts will be pleased that two major Sunday screenings this month come from the last Wimbledon ! tournament.
