New Line At Talks
'N Z Press Assn. — Copyright) JERUSALEM, September 1. Israel's representative to the Middle East peace talks would return to New York shortly with instructions to take a new, hard line in the discussions, diplomatic sources in Jerusalem said today. Today’s Israeli Cabinet meetings simply would spell out the tough line they already have decided to take, the sources said. The representative, the
United Nations Ambassador Mr Yosef Tekoah, would be told to insist that the Arabs must give firm guarantees they were prepared to reach a peace settlement before any terms of such a settlement were reached. In addition, Israel would insist the SAM2 and and SAM 3 missiles it claims Egypt moved into the Suez Canal cease-fire zone be removed before the talks begin. Mr Tekoah is expected to leave for New York today or Wednesday.
