16 minutes: Kember was successful with his first kick of the match, from the 25vard line and seven yards—-3-0. 31 minutes: The New Zealanders had attacked the line for 10 minutes without crossing, and finally Laidlaw decided to keep the ball and kicked a dropped goal—6-0. 41 minutes: Lister carried three men on his shoulders as he burst over for a try well out after Lochore and Sutherland had both smashed through tackles. try after a copybook passing movement between Holm, Seymour and Greyling. Hannaford converted from the corner—l 4-5. 68 minutes: From a scrum on the Natal line, McLeod heeled quickly, Laidlaw moved the ball quickly on the open side, and Milner stepped neatly inside Hannaford to score. Kember converted—--19-5. 73 minutes: Natal made a classic back attack from its own 25 from which Viljoen scored wide out for his second try. Holm broke from a scrum and Seymour and Greyling both handled. Hannaford missed—l 9-8. 78 minutes: Davis gathered in a stab kick by Cottrell and cut infield to score between the posts. Kember converted -24-8. 79 minutes: Davis scored his third try from a scrum near the line, cutting past Greyling and pushing Hatchwell off. Kember converted — 29-8.
