HOUSING APPEALS
Hastening Sought (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 20. An indication that the Commisison of Inquiry into housing may seek action to reduce the amount of time taken by planning appeals was given today by the chairman (Mr R. B. Cooke, Q.C.). During submisions from the Auckland Land Subdividers’ Association, Mr Cooke said: “I quite understand that appeals take a long time, and it is very likely that the Commission will try to bring about a change there.” The association, which represents 11 large companies involved in land subdivision and housing development, made a plea for simpler and less costly town planning procedures.
