BATTLE OF BRITAIN

, The Battle of Britain commemorative service will be held in Christchurch Cathedral on September 20. This year the Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch (the Most Rev.. B. P. Ashby) has agreed to Roman Catholics on parade attending the Anglican service. In the past church services have been held after the parade in the cathedrals of both denominations. .

The Christchurch branch of the Air Force Association will hold a dinner the night before and will have a gettogether with the Brevet Club.

At its annual meeting on Wednesday the branch elected its first woman president, Mrs Z. Lennon, who for 20 years has been a member of the branch executive. Other officers elected were: Patron, Group Captain G. Woodward; vice-president, Mr G. Sanders; immediate pastpresident, Mr S. J. Parker; secretary-treasurer, Mrs S. Thomson; executive, Messrs R. Bell, W. Reynolds and W. McFaul, Mesdames B. Dal low and A. Flanagan.
