OTAGO IS WINNER
Universities Tournament (N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH. Otago has won the sports section of the New Zealand Universities winter tournament convincingly from Canterbury, with Massey and Victoria sharing third place. Auckland was fifth, and both Waikato and Lincoln failed to score a point. The final points were: Otago 70 2/3, Canterbury 48 2/3, Massey 32, Victoria 32, Auckland 26 2/3, Waikato 0, Lincoln 0. The Universities “Sportsman of the Year” is Miss B. Walker, a member of the Otago netball team. Yesterday, Otago won the squash rackets section. The total points from teams* and individual matches were: Otago 26, Massey 24, Victoria 20, Auckland 18, Canterbury 17. Waikato 2.
