A ‘FLYING NUN’ FROM KAIAPOI

Kaiapoi had its own “flying nun” for a short time yesterday afternoon. As a special treat for the last day of the primary school term, the Kaiapoi Rotary Club arrailged a demonstration by a helicopter for the children of the four primary schools at Kaiapoi. The helicopter, from Whirl Wide Helicopters, Ltd, landed at the Kaiapoi Borough, Kaiapoi North, St Patrick's and Clarkviile schools in turn. At each there was a short demonstration of the machine’s abilities; and the pilot, Mr N. Cox, answered questions from the children. The head teacher at each of the schools was taken by helicopter to the next on his list For the children at St Patrick’s School, their head teacher, Sister Zeta, became a real “flying nun” as she was whisked away to the Clarkville School.

The picture shows Sister Zeta, Mr Cox, and one of the children.
