A former New Zealand oarsman has been appointed a New South Wales rowing selector at his first attempt Mr D. Croot, who was assistant manager of the New Zealand Mexico City Oympic Games team, was one of two men elected as selectors in a ballot contested by seven nominees.

Mr Croot general manager of a pharmaceutical manufacturing company, moved to Sydney from Auckland 18 months ago. He said yesterday: “I'm still wondering how I got the selection job against famous Australian rowers and officials.”

Mr Croot has been a national rowing selector and was manager of the New Zealand world championship crew in Canada in 1967. He has been chairman and president of the Auckland Rowing Association •nd was vice-president of the national association when he left for Australia.
