ELVIS AND ELVIS AND THEN ELVIS
There can be no doubt that the American singer Elvis Presley still commands a large army of admirers, but it is strange to find the N.Z.B.C. joining the ranks with quite such enthusiasm as is dis-
played in this week's programmes. Tomorrow at 6.14 the “Pop Specials” programme with Peter Sinclair as host is called “Elvis” and it turns its full attention to Mr Presley’s talents. It lasts half an hour.
On Friday night, there is a repeat presentation of “Elvis Presley Convention,” with 10 minutes viewing of the Pelvis between the feature film and the news. And on Sunday evening, it is Elvis again in a “Showtime” programme called, with fresh originality, “Elvis.” He spends 50 minutes singing hit songs. All very exciting for the Elvis Presley fans. But for those who don’t appreciate his qualities, it is a little too much. The N.Z.B.C. comes in for some unwarranted criticism sometimes. But this is very bad programming.
