Quins At School

(N.Z. Press Association; AUCKLAND, July 28. The Lawson quintuplets —Lisa, Selina, Shiriene, Deborah, and Samuel—began school today, on their fifth birthday. Most of the children of Hobsonville School (roll 441) swarmed across the wet playgrounds from the shelter of their classrooms to greet the quins when they arrived with their mother, Mrs Ann Lawson, and elder sister, Leeann, aged 10, before the bell. The acting-headmaster, Mr L. M. P. Heenan, enrolled the quins—five names, one set of details; the forms to be filled out in quintuplicate by the office staff later. The new pupils were then delivered to the infant supervisor, Mrs S. P. Cox, for a lesson on tigers. There was one other new Primer I pupil today—Charles O’Connor (five last Friday). The quins, who are said by Mrs Cox to be “natural children, very unspoilt”—she knows them and their mother well-paid a familiarisation visit to the school a few weeks ago. They had their birthday party yesterday—attended by 100 persons, including 40 children.
