son at an average of 51.4, which will raise him to fourth place in the batting averages behind the West Indians, G. Sobers, C. Lloyd and R. Kanhai. The opening batsman, G. Boycott, warmed up. for England’s fourth cricket test against the Rest of the World XI on Thursday, with a career-best 260 not out as Yorkshire declared at 450 for four in its match against Essex, P,A.-Reuter reports. It was the highest individual score made in England since 1965 when J. Edrich, the man Boycott has replaced in the test team, hit 310 not out against New Zealand. At Leicester: Leicestershire 198 (84.1 overs), Hampshire 237/4 (68 overs, B. Richards 150) At Birmingham: Warwickshire 150 (73.4 overs) and 0/9, Worcestershire 368 (R. Headley 108, G. Turner 106, T.
