CRIMINAL INJURIES
Compensation In N.S.W. (N.Z.P.A. Staff Correspondent) SYDNEY, July 28. More than $50,000 has been paid to victims of criminal injuries in New South Wales in the 2} years that legislation has permitted such payments.
Among those compensated were people who suffered serious injuries when they intervened in brawls as peacemakers. The legislation provides that, where possible, the person responsible for inflicting criminal injuries should be required to pay for them. One man is already being levied $5 a week, and will continue to pay for many months. The maximum compensation is $2OOO, and the minimum, $lOO.
