Old Chosen For Test

Old, has been nominated for his test debut by the England selectors for the fourth cricket test against the Rest of the World at Headingley, in Yorkshire, on Thursday. Old, top of the English firstclass bowling averages, is one of three changes made in the team beaten by five wickets in the third test earlier this week when the Rest of the World went 2-1 up in the five match series. The 21-year-old Yorkshire pace bowler replaces D. Brown, who has been showing disappointing form. bid’s team-mates, the opening batsman, G. Boycott, and the left-arm spinner, D. Wilson, figure in the other two changes. Boycott will come in for the left-hander, J. Edrich, while Wilson will replace D. Underwood. The team has been chosen with the forthcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand very much Ln mind and Old has a good chance of joining J. Snow and A. Ward in the England fast bowling squad for the tour in October. The team is: R. Illingworth (captain), G. Boycoott, M. C. Cowdrey, B. D’Oliveira, K. Fletcher, A. Greig, A. Knott, B. Luckhurst, C. Old, J. Snow; D. Wilson. Twelfth man: M. Denness.
