Letters on television topics are subject to the rules applying to general correspondence. WOMEN’S PAGES Bernard Smyth’s comments in “Gallery” on women’s pages proved stimulating and Pandora’s remarks were awaited with interest but as an ordinary housewife I wish to differ from their views. A well-written report is likely to be sufficient to gain new members for an organisation and an intelligent interpretation of women’s meetings leads one unerringly to future speakers and new ideas. The posies, not dollars, are the only reward to those hard-working members who have no wish to receive public recognition. Well chosen recipes give more direct information than reading a summary of proven facts of how to get sufficient iron or protein in our daily intake. When inter-

viewing our leading female speakers, put content not padding, into article. Let our women’s pages help us towards being good, sensible, all rounders and prevent us from being caught up in the, uni-sex brigade.—M. C. SCHO-i FIELD. “THE STREET" What a relief to find, upon opening my “Press” at my favourite page the other day, that at last those interminable columns of “guff” on the bleating, snuffling, yelling, raucous denizens of Coronation Street are ended—let us hope indefinitely. The pity is that this doesn’t apply to the feature itself.—EAß-BASHED. Answer to Correspondent
