Cut In Fares Proposed

(N.Z. Prest Astoctationi AUCKLAND, July 27. The Australian airline Qantas has proposed fare reductions for Australian and New Zealand tourists going overseas and for foreign tourists coming to New Zealand. The proposals, along with others made by world airlines, will be discussed at the traffic conference of the International Air Transport Association in Honolulu in September. One major Qantas proposal is for a special circle-Paciflc tour fare at a discount of 20 per cent to 30 per cent. This is designed to encourage United States tourists, now visiting the Far East in large numbers to include Australia and New Zealand on the return trip, instead of flying home direct. Qantas is also proposing a new group fare to Britain and Europe with a 40 per cent to 45 per cent discount for affinity groups of 50 or more. This would supplement the present charter fare for groups of at least 100.
