NEW ZEALAND MARKET FIRMS IN QUIET TRADING

The New Zealand sharemarket reversed trading yesterday, Australian shares were firm.

Rise* outnumbered falls by a good margin for the first time in three weeks.

Consolidated Plastics made a good recovery; The shares put on 10c to 218 c. . I. recovered Sc to 238 c, New Zealand Insurance remained Arm gaining 2c to 420 c. J. Wattle Canneries rose 1c to 157 c and the new shares the same amount to 151 c. N.Z. Petroleum came in for some support and the shares jumped 10c to 180 c. Waihl contributing advanced Sc to 60c. Comalco fully paid closed at 555 c for a gain of 10c but the contributing eased So to 390 c, A Harvey was a little easier losing 2c to 453 c. N.Z. Farmars’ Fertiliser lost Be to finish at 255 c. '. ■
