Australian Markets Easier At Close
Share prices turned back after a firm start on Australian stock exchanges yesterday, to close on a generally weaker note. Selected mining shares attracted support, however, and advanced strongly in active trading. In the oils, Beach reacted sharply on profit-taking, ending the day 35c down at 220 c. Leading industrials were firm with the exception of B.H.P. which closed barely steady at 1390 c. The Bank of New South Wales found strong support, closing 10c higher at 670 c.
