FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT
Situation.—-A depression moving southeast near the north-east of the North Island is expected to deepen. A cold south-west airstream is spreading over the country. Forecast: Inland Marlborough and Nelson.—Southwesterlies, fresh at times; scattered showers, chiefly about the ranges; otherwise partly cloudy and rather cold. Coastal Marlborough and Canterbury.— South-west winds, strong in some exposed coastal placed and fresh at times elsewhere; changeable and cold, with showers; snow above about 2000 ft. Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable winds, mainly southerlies; a few scattered showers about the ranges, but long fine periods elsewhere; cool. Outlook: south-west conditions, with variable skies and scattered showers.
