EASY WIN

HIGH SCHOOL OLD BOYS 26: J. McAuliffe, .G. Glackin (two), G. Henry, A. Tweedie, S. Purdon, tries; K. Laugeson four conversions. BURNSIDE 3: N. Robertson a try. High School Old Boys had little difficulty in defeating Burnside in a rather dull game at Rugby Park. Both forward and back Burnside was outclassed by its young but more experienced opponents and most of the play was confined to the Burnside half. The superiority of Old Boys was most marked in the backs and it was the team’s own errors as much as the Burnside defence which kept the score within reasonable bounds. For Old Boys Purdon, R. McKenzie and T. Crowhen were lively forwards and Laugeson was a safe full-back who made some spectacular runs. P. Smart again was prominent in the line-outs for Burnside and P. Rickard played steadily on the wing. Referee: Mr J. M. Lang.
