Ice Skating Postponed
The New Zealand ice-skating marathon which was to have been held at Lake Ida yesterday had to be postponed because of lack of ice.
This was another blow to skaters who have experienced the worst season for many years. Earlier thia season the New Zealand long track and short track championships were postponed, as were the Canterburv long track championships. With little likelihood of sufficient ice forming on Lake Ida. it appears these events will hot be held this year. However, the national short track championship will revert back to the indoor rink, as was the case last year, and should be staged I soon.
