SHIP SINKS OFF JAPAN

A Japanese freighter sank last night after it collided with a 15,000-ton Danish freighter in a fog off western Japan, the Maritime Safety Agency reported today.

The M.S.A. said that six crew members from the 446ton Japanese freighter, Seiho Maru were missing. A seventh crewman was picked up by the Danish freighter, the Birgitte Cord, of the Concord Line A/S of Copenhagen. The Danish freighter is standing by the scene of the collision for questioning by M.S.A. investigators.
