Demolition Approved
Approval for the demolition of another section of the Central Police Station in Hereford Street- has arrived from Wellington. Both police beadquarters and the Ministry of Works head office have approved the demolition of about 25ft on the Hereford Street frontage. This developed cracks and was evacuated .when the contractor for the new police station began driving piles immediately against one of the walls. Tenders for the demolition of the 25ft by more than 75ft deep two-storey section will be called soon. The police are trying to'get approval for a number of pre-fabricated buildings to be moved on to the site to be used by the sections which have been moved from the damaged part of the building.
