Phnom Penh Ambassador

President Nixon had decided to appoint Mr Emory Swank, aged 48. as United States Ambassador to Cambodia, the White House spokesman, Mr Ronald Ziegler, said yesterday. Mr Swank, at present Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs, will be the first United States Ambassador to Cambodia in five years. The appointment is seen as a further show of United States friendliness towards the Government of General Lon Nol.
