BEST BETS
Washdyke DEEP COVE (Race 6). Ch g 6yrs by Freelight — Carron, trained by R. Cochrane, Gore. Easy winner in the corresponding event on the second day of the South Canterbury meeting on this course. A very consistent jumper with recent wins over both hurdles and country. Shoud have little trouble in winning his fourth successive race. Awapuni SIR CULLUS (Race 8). Ch g 3yrs by Balsir —Able Miss, trained by R. Autridge, Matamata. Continued his sound form with a good win at the Cambridge meeting on Wednesday. That was his third win from five starts. In spite of the top-weight of 9-4 he should win again against this fairly ordinary field of hacks.*--wellington correspondent.
Ohinemuri PUERTO RICO (Race 2). Br c by Oakville —Regal Tray, trained by W. Worrall, Takanini. Puetro Rico failed in his last start but looks the best prospect at the Paeroa meeting tomorrow. His previous form was promising and he came through his work at Takanini yesterday in attractive style D. A. Peake, riding in top form, will be his jockey.—Auckland correspondent.
