CAR FIRM CONVICTED
Customs Act Breaches (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 16. Paine Brothers (Motors), Ltd, an Auckland car dealing firm, was convicted of 15 breaches of the Customs Act, relating to importing cars and outboard motors, by Mr D, G. Sinclair, S.M., in the Auckland Magistrate's Court today. The magistrate adjourned the case for one week for sentence. Paine Brothers was charged with arranging to sell, purchase or dispose of 12 cars and three outboard motors when a condition of the import permits was that they should not be disposed of within one year of being imported. The charges relate to a period between June 18, 1968, and July 4, 1969. Paine Brothers had earlier admitted the charges. The cars and outboard motors were worth $45,539.
