Damage At Park
Vandals on a rampage at Lancaster Park last month caused damage amounting to more than $3OO, the park board was told last evening. The ground committee’s report said that one of two goal-posts damaged oy the vandals completely collapsed, and was broken in three places. Black bitumen paint was smudged in letters over the front of No. 3 and No. 4 stands in five places, and in front of the score board. The Town versus Country Rugby match was scheduled to begin at 12 noon that day. Ground staff and members of the grounds committee and the Rugby Union committee worked hard to paint over the bitumen scrawl and repair the damaged 50ft goal-post in time for the match. The wrecked post was replaced. The vandals have not yet been caught.
