RECOMMENDED FOR MEDAL OF HONOUR
Mr M. Morrison, of Palmerston North, president of the New Zealand Speedboat Association, and Mr P. R. Knight, New Brighton Power .Boat Club official and world speedboat recordholder, are to be recommended for the gold medal of the Union of International Motor-Boating (U.1.M., with headquarters in Brussels). This was decided at the annual conference this month of the South Island Speedboat Association. The award is given annually in outstanding personalities who have contributed to the sport in administration and in active competition.
Mr Morrison has been a hard-working member of the national council since 1953, and Mr Knight has served with success in administration and given power-boat-Speedboat Officers elected at the annual meeting of the South Island Power Boat Association this month were: Patron, Mr A. ing in New Zealand international recognition by winning races overseas and establishing the first world speedboat record in this country. Officals (Otago), K. Driver (Southland), I. Burns (North Otago) and R. Truman Messrs Arnold and Savage were appointed representatives to the New Zealand executive, and Knight and Driver southern zone delegates to the New Zealand conference. Mr J. B. Richardson was elected publicity officer for the South Island association.
