ABORTION IN U.K.
Clinics Under Scrutiny (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON. July 14. Britain’s abortion clinics will have their licences reexamined during the next two weeks, the “Daily Express” reports. Sir Keith Joseph, Minister of Social Services in the new Conservative Administration has told the House of Commons that he will not renew any licences for such clinics • for a period extending beyond i the end of this year. He added that he would . study the Abortion Act : throughly before deciding i whether to proceed with a ; full-scale inquiry into the way it was working.
The controversial act has now been in force in Britain i for more than two years. At i present, about 50 clinics hold ; three-month licences to do - abortions.
