CRICKET STATUS

Period May Be Doubled (N.Z.P A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. The International Cricket Conference, which will meet at Lord’s on Wednesday and Thursday, is expected to lengthen the period which a player must spend in a country before he can play test matches for it. The qualification period now is four years, but the conference will probably double this. The alteration will not be retrospective, so that A. Greig, who was born in South Africa and came to England four years ago, will be able to continue his test career for England.

The conference will discuss its usual batch of expert-| mental laws, including the noball, the throw, leg-before and time-wasting. There is also, a move to abolish the legbye. |l
