Hotel Workers’ Strike

Sir,—My congratulations to mine host and wife, of the Canterbury Hotel, Lyttelton, for their service above and beyond the call of duty during the protest stoppage of hotel workers. Mr and Mrs Scott performed nobly and well, not only in keeping the taps flowing, but in providing lunch for all their regulars and a few extras. In return the customers reciprocated by thanking them as they left. I say, hats off to a couple of dinkum Kiwis.—Yours, etc, HAWEA FRANK. July 14, 1970.
