Abortion Threat
The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles says that he would excommunicate any member of the Church within his jurisdiction who became involved in an abortion. “Thou shalt not kill is the unchangeable law of God,” Archbishop Timothy Manning declared in a proclamation. Under California law abortion is permitted for such reasons as rape, incest and preservation of the mother’s physical or mental health.—Los Angeles, July 12.
