BURNSIDE H.S.

Team Teaching Block (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 9. A tender has been accepted for the erection of a team teaching block at Burnside High School. The contract has been let to J. J. Construction Company, Ltd, whose price of $57,840 was the lowest of the six tenders. Advice of this has been received by the member of Parliament for Riccarton (Mr E. S. F. Holland), from the Under-Secretary of Education (Mr Gair). Mr Gair said the new block would ■ provide a team teaching room with a seminar room and storeroom and two classrooms with two seminar rooms, with a connecting link containing the office of a head of department. “Burnside High School has a rapidly expanding roll which could eventually grow over 1800,” said Mr Gair. “A programme of new accommodation and alterations has been approved to cope with these rolls in the future and planning is already well under way for further additions.” The team teaching block is expected to be available early in 1971, and the additions during 1972.
