Gay Doctor Waimate Pick

The scratching on Wednesday of Princess! Mellay has strengthened the possibility of a Washdyke victory in the Morven Handicap at Waimate tomorrow.
Gay Doctor (shown below), despite his weak showing against the tnilers at Wash dyke last Saturday, should be the hardest to beat, even with 8-10 In a field larking class Princess Mellay stood out. Gay
Doctor, which has winning form tn metropolitan class on his record, certainly looked next-best Although he has been one of Canterbury's busiest horses this season Gay Doctor does not have many bleak spots on his record. Trying to match the natural speedster, Shewetta, for the first half of the H. H. Fraser Memorial Handicap at Washdyke last Saturday might have left him without reserves for any sort of showing in the final stages of the race. Aidershot—another which
was all at sea in the Wash- i dyke mud last Saturday but ; was the runner-up to Trelay i in the Oamaru Winter Cup at i his previous start—Tranquil Flight, which finished third I in the big race at Oamaru, i and Beau Supreme, which i should now be ready to show <
somethisng like his best form after two starts in a fresh campaign, make most appeal of the others. The Morven Handicap will be the first leg of the' Waimate Hunt Club’s T.A.B. ' double. The second leg ot this double will be the Waihao
Hack Handicap, in which Flying Melda, Reeften Queen and Stojnibell might be the best chances. Arleigh and Coeur de Chene are fancied for the on-course double, which will be on the Studholme Hurdles and the Novice Stakes.
