Erratic Trading On Australian Market
Mining shares closed ? off the top after a firm ; opening on Australian ’ stock exchanges yesterday. Oils were erratic s with no clear trend apparent while industrials were narrowly mixed. Poseidon reacted to recent losses with an $ll advance to I $lOO after selling down to $96 s at mid-morning. G.M.E., Mid-East Minerals, . Newmex, North Deborah and 5 Norseman were others to do well. Planet metals found rei newed strength and the shares . added 29c. Ravensthorpe was i also in demand. . Losses were scattered. Minsicorp eased 10c while AustraIlian Antimony fell 3c.
Beach continued to move erratically after trading slightly higher on the opening, selling pressure developed and the shares finished 20c lower. Magellan and Ampol Exploration were both discounted a few cents. Industrials were firm and most moves were marginal. B.H.P. was 15c higher and C.S.R. found buyers and gained 20c.
