MATCH TO BE HELD
First Round Snooker K. Murphy and J. Pitcathly will play their firstround match in the Canterbury snooker championship at the Post Office rooms this evening. They were to have met at the Kaiapoi W.M.C. on Tuesday, when other first-round games were played, but when Murphy failed to appear by 7.45 p.m. Pithcathly claimed the match and left. Murphy, who had had car trouble, arrived a few minutes later The Canterbury Billiards Association’s match and judicial committees met on Wednesday and found that although its rules called fot games to be underway by 7.45 p.m., there were allowances for travel to outlying districts and for delays through unforeseen circumstances.
