Dogged by injuries, the All Blacks have named probably the strongest available team to play the powerful Transvaal side at Ellis Park on Saturday. But with eight players not available through injury, it is not a “shadow” test side. Among the eight not able are C. E. Meads, who broke an arm today, G. S. Thorne and I. R. Macßae—who would all be in the test XV With Macßae and Thorne out, W. D. Cottrell, who is the likely test first fiveeighths, is retained as second five-eighths, with E. W. Kirton inside him. W. L. Davis is brought back as centre. No Replacements The full list of those unavailable is Meads, Macßae, H. P. Milner, A. R. Sutherland (all injured today), T. N. Lister, Thorne, B. A. Hunter, and K. Murdoch. The manager (Mr R. Burk) said: “I am not kt all happy about the injury position, especially now that Meads is out.” But he did not think it necessary to send for replacements. he said. Transvaal is leaving nothing to chance in its attempt to beat the All Blacks. Every member of its squad was present on Wednesday at the match against Eastern Transvaal. As soon as the match was over, Transvaal’s coach, Mr A. Malan, who captained the Springboks against the 1960 All Blacks, gathered up his men and took them away by bus for a special training session. Mr Malan was coach of the last Springbok team to tour the British Isles.
