Flintlock Deal

A nineteenth-century set of three French Empire flintlock firearms was sold for a world record price of £43,050 at Christie’s London auction rooms yesterday. The set, comprising a rifle and a pair of pistols, was bought by a London dealer, Mr Frank Partridge, for a private client. The trigger-guards on the pistols are almost identical with those on Napoleon’s own set of four, now in the Musee de I‘Armee in Paris.—London, July 9.
