The New Zealand test opener, G. M. Turner, has moved up to seventh place in the English county cricket batting averages, with his three successive centuries last week. Turner has batted 19 times, been once not out, scored 917 runs, and has an average of 50.94. His highest score of the season so far is 154 not out. The West Indies captain, G. S. Sobers, heads the batting with an average of 89.45. He is followed by two more West Indians, R. B. Kanhai (58.94) and C. H. Lloyd (57.80). Also ahead of Turner, who plays for Worcestershire, are E. Russell (55.37), G. H. Edrich (54.30) and J. M. Parks (51.06).
