(From Our Own Reporter? WELLINGTON, July 8. The Christchurch Railway Station restaurant will be refurnished and a liquor licence will be obtained so that passengers on the new South Island express will be able to dine in comfort in the time available between the arrival of the evening train at 6.35 p.m. and the departure of the niter-island ferry from Lyttelton.
The Minister of Railways (Mr Gordon) said this in Parliament today in reply to questions from Mr R. L. G. Talbot (Nat, South Canterbury). Mr Gordon said the timetable for the Southerner express service provided for the north-bound train to run through to the ship's side at Lyttelton on evenings when the inter-island ship sailed for Wellington. A morning connection with the southbound ferry would be provided as at present.
