Post Office Bonus Bonds

Sir, —As the day approaches for the “big draw.” could the Post Office reassure folk on one point? In the event of my drawing a winning number will such an occurrence be kept quite private? There are still people who like to keep their business to themselves and, this coming draw, being the first, one rather envisages its being akin to an American election campaign, with all the bally-hoo, bands and marching girls! I am sure there must be thousands like myself hoping for a winner, but please, unheralded, unsung and unknown to anyone else, particularly television, radio and the press.—Yours, etc., MRS BOND BUYER. June 17, 1970

[The Postmaster-General (Mr McCready) replies: “I am pleased to be able to ass'. re your correspondent that only the winning bond unit numbers and the prizes they have won will be released for publication. In a further effort to achieve anonymity, neither the nor the cheque, nor the money order if that means of payment is preferred, sent to prizewinners will bear any evidence that the documents originated at the bonus bonds centre.”]
