TUNNEL POST
MR D. W STOREY who has been appointed to succeed Mr W. A. Wheldale as tunnel superintendent of the Christchurch-Lyttelton Road Tunnel Authority. Mr Wheldale will leave in October to become deputy head of operations of the new West Gate toll bridge in Melbourne. Mr Storey joined the authority when it began about six years and a half ago as a tunnel supervisor. Before then he had worked in the transport industry as a driver and a supervising officer in the Railways Department, Midland Motorways, Ltd, and the New Zealand Express Company, Ltd. He served in the ground transport section of the No. 14 Fighter Squadron of the RJV.Z.A.F. during the occupation of Japan. Mr W. M. C. Gibbs, a tunnel control officer, has been promoted to supervisor.
