Publicity About Drug Dangers Welcomed
New Zealanders had to know the dangers drugs could cause in the country, the Minister of Police (Mr Thomson) said in Christchurch yesterday.

Hospital, has recently been reported as saying the drug problem in New Zealand had been blown out of all proportion by the news media. Mr Thomson said he thought persons should know of the dangers of Misuse of drugs. ' “I certainly would not want the news media not to be talking about those dangers." “We are concerned about the publication of the types of chemicals. We don’t want persons who are not familiar with those chemicals hunting about looking for them.” “The attraction of these drugs to young persons has to be restrained. “I don’t expect and neither does the police or the customs. any substantial increase in the use of these drugs here.”
