Inia Te Wiata Arrives
(N.Z Press Association)
WELLINGTON, June 12. Inia Te Wiata was greeted at Wellington Airport today by members of the New Zealand Maori Theatre Trust with whom he will tour overseas, before returning to London as guest star of the Royal Opera Company in November. He has been singing with the Royal Opera Company at the Berlin Opera House in “Falstaff,” “Don Carlos," and a new opera, “Victory.” “The company had been getting fantastic ovations,” up to five minutes long, he said. 1 The company plans to perform in at least 10 different main centres of the world within the next 12 years. Reciprocal arrangements in meeting expenses could be made with companies from overseas, such as the Moscow Company going to London, Mr Te Wiata said.
