Parachuting Accuracy

Scorers were kept busy, at the Canterbury Skydiving Club’s annual accuracy competition for the Jack Fullerton trophy held at Southbridge on Saturday. Most competitors found the light three-five mile per hour wind to be no problem, and the accuracy of some of the more inexperienced jumpers kept the experts up to their best. P. Wylie won for the third time since the trophy was presented five years ago. His scores for the three jumps were 1.73 metres, 1.88 metres and 921 centimetres (representing the: distance landed away from the 10-centimetre diameter target for a total of 254.7 points out of a possible 300. Consistent Jumping W. Harland, with 194.2 points, gained second place, and H. McLachlan, with 181.2 points, third place. Both jumped consistently but could not match Wylie’s precision. Misses J. Gillespie and E. Rendle, both in their first year ; of competitive parachuting, i scored 102.0 points and 81.0 points for sixth and ninth places respectively. i Final placings were: ; P.
