HUNT AWAY EVENT
N.L Dog JFins S.L Title (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL. North Island dogs took five of the seven placings in the South Island straight huntaway championship, the only event decided during the fogdisrupted fifth day of the national sheepdog trials at Mararoa, Southland. N. Boynton (Gisborne), winner of two previous national zig-zag titles and one national straight huntaway title, took his first South Island championship with Ben, a rangy and polished seven-year-old dog which has previously won two national titles. Mr Boynton’s brother, A. Boynton, was runner-up with Ben’s half-brother, Chief. Only a point and a half separated the first seven dogs when the 123 entries in the class completed their run today. Placings were:
N. F. Boynton’s (Gisborne) Ben, 982 points, 1; A. K. Boynton’s (Hunterville) Chief, 981, 2; W. W. Roff’s (Rangiwahia) Kaiser, 981 3; D. E. Woodill’s (Akaroa) Dock, 98, 4; M. L. Kerr’s (Waikaia) Jock, 972, 5: L. C. Gallien’s (Parangahau) Bill, 97j, 6; R. J. Mullooly’s (Matawai) Paul 11, 972, 7.
