Two Upset i Results
Technical s surprise defeat at , home. Christchurch City’s upset victory away, were features of the depleted southern league, first division, soccer programme ■ on Saturday. Technical had all the play but ■ conceded the only goal, to allow Northern its first victory of the season, while City, expecting defeat, outplayed • Roslyn-Wakari. 3-1, in Dunedin. With the leading clubs not playing because of cup fixtures. ■ the two points it gained lifted I City into fourth place, only one ■ point behind the joint leaders, : New Brighton and St Kilda. ' In the only other first division match, the Shamrock centreforward. M. Ellis, netted three • goals for the second successive ' week, in his club’s victory over ‘ Rangers. Technical had enough chances Ito score half-a-dozen goals ' against Northern but something always seemed to go wrong at a vital moment. On the other hand. Northern was rarely a 1 danger, but 10 minutes from • the end P. Little netted the • only goal. 1 City surprised by the ease of its victory over Roslyn, leading ’ 3-0 at one stage, with goals 1 from J Wilson (penalty). D. • Wild and A. Dawe.
