Prisoners To Be Released

RIO DE JANEIRO, June 14.

The kidnappers of the West German Ambassador, Mr Ehrenfried von Holleben, today released the names of 40 prisoners whose release they demand for the safe return of the Ambassador, the Associated Press reported.

The kidnappers asked that the prisoners be sent to exile in Algeria, Mexico or Chile in that order of priority.

The list was found in a rubbish basket at a busy central intersection. With it was a handwritten note from the 61-year-old diplomat. It said. “1 confirm that 1 am in good health.

"1 was glad to know that Marinho and the others who were with me are okay. As for the treatment I am receiving, I have no complaints. jLove, Ehrenfried."

Marinho was the chauffeur who was driving the Ambassador’s car at the time of the kidnapping. The kidnappers said that the Ambassador would not be released until they had proof from the press that the prisoners were safely in exile.

In a previous announcement, the Government said. “In an effort to save the life of West German Ambassador Ehrenfried von Holleben. the Government has agreed to release the 40 political prisoners."

In a message to the West German Chancellor (Mr Willy Brandt), President Emilio Garrastazu Medici, of Brazil, gave assurances that “My (Government will strive to free Ambassador von Holleben safe and sound.”
