SHIP’S FIRST VISIT
The Northern Steam Ship Company’s 1589-ton bulk carrier Dido, which arrived at Lyttelton on Thursday after-
noon from Mount Maunganui for a routine drydocking, is paying her first visit to the port. The Dido, which has a service speed of 131 knots, is powered by a nine-cylinder British Polar diesel engine. She was completed in 1963 for the Bristol Steam Navigation Company, Ltd, and de-
signed for service between she Continent and Bristol Channel ports. Purchased by the Northern Steam Ship Company, Ltd, last year, she arrived in New Zealand this year and has
been carrying bulk grain from Bluff to North Island} ports since her arrival. |
