Farewell For “Miss N.Z”
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, June 11
“Miss New Zealand” (Miss Glenys Treweek), will be entertained to afternoon tea tomorrow by the Deputy Prime Minister (Mr Marshall) and Mrs Marshall.
Miss Treweek, who lives in Wellington, will meet Mr and Mrs Marshall in the Minister’s office. The afternoon tea is in the nature of a Government farewell before “Miss New Zealand” leaves for overseas, as part of her contest prize.
Message Incorrect. A Press Association message from Auckland on June 2 incorrectly said that Queen Victorian College in Auckland was the only remaining Maori girls’ boarding school in New Zealand. A member of the board of governors of Turakina Maori Girls’ College, near Marton, points out that Turakina College still exists, and earlier this year expanded its facilities to accommodate an increase of from 60 to 90 pupils.— (P.A.).
