Speed Skating Programme

The speed skating season begins this week-end and promises to be most exciting as several top skaters have renewed their interest in the sport and will be making come-backs.

The major events this season are: June 14, Canterbury provincial short track championship: July 4-5, Lake Ida Winter Sports Association’s long track championships; July 11-12, Canterbury provincial long track championships; July 16-17, New Zealand national long track championships at Manorburn Dam (Alexandra); July 18, New Zealand short track championships at Manorburn Dam: July 26, New Zealand marathon.

Golf Trophy.— Waikato is favoured to retain the Mooloo Shield when it meets Taranaki in the annual golf fixture at St Andrews this week-end. It will be led by the New Zealand representative, E. J. McDougall.
